The People Science team, as part of the People Analytics function at Uber, is looking for an experienced people data scientist to join this exciting journey. The people science team owns Uber's central employee listening channels and measurement toolkit, conducts research and sophisticated analytics to understand employee experience and find opportunities for intervention, and works closely with product and engineering to build scalable and balanced products that enable business decisions based on data.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
\\- Apply your quantitative skills, data science techniques and research methodologies to enrich understanding and/or improve prediction of employee motivation and behaviors

\\- Translate business objectives into specific research or data science initiatives, craft appropriate research or analytical strategies to resolve the problem with measurable outcomes

\\- Combine applied quantitative research with the messiness of employee data and behavioral science to drive data- and science-backed decisions

\\- Partner closely with engineering and product teams to define, prototype and build data science products with balanced and scalable impact

\\- Communicate data insights and recommendations to technical and non-technical partners and influence business decisions

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
\\- Master or PhD degree in a quantitative social science field: Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Educational psychology, Organizational behavior, Management, Behavioral Economics etc.

\\- 1+ years industry experience deriving insights from large amounts of real, sparse heterogeneous data with a statistical programming language (e.g. Python, R)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
\\- PhD with 1+ years of experience, or MS with 3+ years proven ability working as an applied quantitative researcher or data scientist, ideally in high-tech industry

\\- Experience in data mining, causal inference, experiment design, and/or machine learning techniques to tackle real-world problems

\\- Experience in psychometrics/measurement (especially survey design), Natural language processing (NLP), or Organizational network analytics (ONA) preferred

\\- Experience in people analytics or I/O psychology topics

\\- Able to turn business questions into impactful analyses and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

\\- Able to navigate through ambiguity, adapt optimally to changing situations, and innovate in solving sophisticated problems
