StateNew York
CityNew York
About the role:

Leads efforts within the organization to drive the development and maintenance of backend services and solutions to support user-facing products, downstream services, or infrastructure tools and platforms used across Uber.

About the Team:

The goal of the Logistics team is to move people, food, and everything in between from point A to point B as efficiently and timely as possible. The team is a core pillar of Uber's Marketplace group, and aims to optimize dispatching algorithms and build new dispatching paradigms. We build the tech stack to make thousands of intelligent matching decisions every second globally in real-time among hundreds of thousands of earners and customers. The impact of these matching decisions affects billions of dollars of gross booking for the company. We are not just talking about designing algorithms to solve NP-hard problems - we are building robust scalable real-time production systems to power these algorithms from the ground up and deliver the driver and rider experiences directly in the Uber apps.

Logistics Realtime Optimization: Both Eats and Pool matching utilize a graph-based data model to make matching decisions. This leads to tradeoffs between creating efficient routes for drivers and couriers to fulfill requests, and the associated negative impact to the end customer as a result of batching requests together. You will optimize for Uber's top and bottom line by making tradeoffs as to what request orderings are generated, what set of orderings are ideal, and when to dispatch them.
